PLBC HISTORY

Park Lawn Baptist Church was established in 1929.
When the winds of liberalism began to blow through the churches in Ontario in the early part of the 20th century, those faithful to the Word of God felt they could not depart from the Bible’s clear teachings. During this period the spiritual leaders of Humber Bay Gospel Tabernacle expressed a desire to move their church away from the essential and foundational doctrines of Scripture. After much discussion, prayer and seeking God’s mind in the matter some of the members of Humber Bay left because, in good conscience, they could not agree to the changes being proposed. As Amos, the prophet of Israel, says: “Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?” (Amos 3:3). Fashioned after the early church in the Book of Acts, this small group of believers formed a new church, meeting in homes in the area for an extended period of time. They continue to serve the Lord faithfully and God added to their numbers.
