WHAT WE BELIEVE

1. CONCERNING THE BIBLE

We believe the Bible to be the very Word of God; that the sixty-six books comprising the Old and New Testaments are inspired by the Spirit of God and are, therefore, wholly without error as originally given by God; and that it is our final authority, our only and all-sufficient rule of faith and practice.

2. CONCERNING GOD

We believe there is one God, who is Creator of all things, holy, eternal, and perfect. He self-exists in three distinct Persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, each of whom is to be honored and worshiped equally.

3. CONCERNING JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He eternally dwelt in heavenly glory before being born as a man. He was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, died in the place of sinners to take their punishment for sin, was raised victoriously from the dead, and ascended into heaven. He now intercedes on behalf of Christians and will return triumphantly to the earth again.

4. CONCERNING THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is truly God and truly a person. His work includes giving new spiritual life to sinners, aiding believers in personal holiness, and comforting those who believe in Jesus Christ.

5. CONCERNING SATAN AND DEMONS

We believe that Satan is the originator of sin and the archenemy of God and man. His judgment by God and final doom is sure.

6. CONCERNING MAN

We believe that man was directly created by God in the likeness of God and is not a product of evolution. Man, through personal disobedience, became a fallen creature incurring physical and spiritual death. Every part of human nature has been affected by sin.

7. CONCERNING SALVATION

We believe that salvation is the free and gracious gift of God, neither deserved nor obtained by any work or merit of man but received through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

8. FUTURE THINGS

We believe that Jesus Christ will personally and gloriously return to earth. Furthermore, we believe there will be a day of judgment, when the bodies of both the righteous and unrighteous will be raised. The righteous will eternally exist in a state of joy with the Lord; the unrighteous will eternally and consciously endure punishment.

9. THE LOCAL CHURCH

We believe a local church is a voluntary association of baptized believers established for instruction, edification and the administration of ordinances. The local church was ordained by God as His chosen organization to carry out His great commission and great commandment. It is meant to unite believers together for the purpose of exalting the Lord, helping and encouraging one another, and evangelizing the lost for Jesus Christ. It is also designed to serve one another with spiritual gifts, to be accountable to one another, and to love one another. Jesus Christ is the Head of the church and every church has the right, under Him, to govern its own affairs.

10. THE ORDINANCES

We believe that baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the church. Baptism is the immersion in water of a believer as a public testimony of his or her identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial in which the believer partakes of two elements: bread and the fruit of the vine. These are symbols of Christ’s body and blood, and are taken in testimony of the believer’s faith in Christ, in remembrance of His death and it is to be observed until He returns again.
11. THE LORD’S DAY

We believe that the first day of the week, Sunday, has been observed as the Lord’s Day since the beginning of the church.

12. THE CHURCH AND SOCIETY

We believe that every person has a right to practice and spread his or her own beliefs. The church, however, must teach the truth of Scripture and warn against false teaching. The church is governed by Scripture and should influence society for God. We also believe that governments are appointed by God for the good of society. Its leaders are to be prayed for, honoured, and obeyed, except in matters opposed to the will of God as revealed in His holy Word, the Bible. The government should in no way dominate or interfere with the church.
